KAMI is committed to the creation of
a society based on justice and
equality through participative and
democratic mechanisms and premised
upon the belief that freedom and
development can only be fully
attained in an atmosphere of peace.
At all times, undertakings are directed
towards the attainment of the
following:  people empowerment,
people's participation, autonomous
but cooperating  people's
organizations, structural change
through non-violent actions, open
and honest relations with partner
agencies and harnessing of
professional talent in the service of
the marginalized.

GOAL

KAMI aims to establish a broad base
of support for the urban poor and
housing issues through the
formation of multi-level coalitions
within the urban poor sector and the
building of partnerships with other
sectors in civil society, government
and business.

OBJECTIVES

The increasingly independent
coalition shall enhance the
empowerment of the urban poor
sector in Mindanao by pursuing the
three major thrusts:
KAHUGPONGAN SA MINDANAW
Coalition-building

The coalition-building activities involve the strengthening of People
Organizations' (PO) coalition/federation on the barangay, city, and
regional levels; strengthening of KAMI as an NGO coalition; building of a
coalition/partnership between the PO and the NGO coalition; and forging
of coalitions by the PO-NGO coalition with other private sector groups and
local government units.

Capability-building

KAMI undertakes activities in organizational strengthening, technical and
human resource development both at the PO and NGO levels and at the
barangay, city and Mindanao levels of the coalition in support of the
advocacy activities and the empowerment of the organizations to
maintain and sustain the development initiatives.

Advocacy

To undertake activities for the legislation, protection or implementation
and provision of services in poverty alleviation, social housing and related
concerns at the barangay, city and Mindanao-wide levels of advocacy.
The advocacy activities will focus on the following:

> Passage and legislation of positive laws
> Implementation of current positive laws
