The 13th General Assembly of Mindanao Coalition of Development NGO Networks
(MINCODE) was held last June 25-26, 2010 at the Mindanao Training and
Resource Center, Bajada, Davao City with this year’s theme, “Assessing
Opportunities and Preserving Solidarity, Relevance and Sustainability under the
Aquino Administration.”

The first part of the General Assembly focused on regional evaluation and reflection
that aims to reflect and evaluate the CSO partisan and non-partisan engagement in
May 2010 elections drawing lessons for future engagements in the next elections
and with the new government. The network’s members were also able to identify
and discuss key and urgent policy recommendations, programs and projects for the
new national and local governments. Members identified and agreed on important
action point for development advocacy reforms at the local and national level and
formulated institutional post-election action plans. Mr. Sixto Donato Macasaet,
Executive Director of CODE-NGO presented a general situationer on the problems,
challenges and opportunities of the incoming administration along with the
Development and Reform Agenda and Change Politics Movement.

Ms. Jocelyn B. Gerra, Ph.D., the Executive Director and Chairperson of the 5th
Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. Triennial Awards presented their program and
projects and announced the Foundation’s call for nominations committee. Previous
awardees Rev. Fr. Reuben dela Cruz of Integrated Health Ministries Inc., (BIHMI)
and Mr. Doming Tadena of Philippine Eagle Foundation shared their experiences
and encouraged the participants to participate by sending in their nominees to the
awards committee.

The second part of the meeting reviewed and confirmed MINCODE’s 2008-2009
performance vis-a-vis its Strategic Operations Plan. The meeting also tackled the
results of the nationwide consultations on the Development and Reform Agenda of
the CSOs in the next five years and reconstituted the network’s governance structure
and sustainability mechanisms.
